You’re probably reading the headline of this article and thinking that I’m crazy to be betting on the New York Jets on TNF, considering they are taking on the red-hot Baltimore Ravens on the road. Well, when you consider the fact that Lamar Jackson and company are favored by more than two touchdowns, it becomes more believable. Not to mention, the New York Jets have won four of their last five games, as Sam Darnold has redeemed himself after his absence early in the season. When you look at this particular bet, I am leaning towards the Jets because of the spread itself. Yes, the Ravens are among the highest-scoring teams in the NFL; however, they’ve won their last two games by single digits and failed to score more than 24 points in either game. The point is Baltimore is simply looking to get victories at this point, as they strive to lock up the top overall seed in the AFC heading into the postseason. On one hand, Lamar Jackson has all but locked up the MVP award, as he currently sits with -900 odds to win the award. On the other hand, his playing style lends itself to risk for injury, and heading into a short week, Jackson is listed on the injury report as questionable, although he is expected to play. As they prepare for the New York Jets, it would be easy to overlook the 5-8 team that is coming off a loss to Cincinnati and a one-point win against the Dolphins. It’s the making of a lackluster trap game for the Baltimore, because the Jets are riding some momentum for a team that was down and out a month ago.

From a betting perspective, the Ravens are just 2-4 against the spread at home this season. In addition, they are just 1-4 ATS as a home favorite in 2019. On the flip side, the New York Jets are 5-4 ATS as an underdog this season, so they are familiar in this position and have taken advantage of spreads like this in the past. Not to mention, the team is expected to get star running back Le’Veon Bell back in the lineup, after he missed last game with flu-like symptoms. I certainly do not believe the Jets are going to win this game in a tough environment, but I do think they will keep it within two touchdowns.
