As mentioned above, the Eagles are heavy favorites tonight in the City of Brotherly Love. I don’t think anyone can argue against Philly being the better team on paper, but for some reason, Doug Pederson’s squad has not been able to fulfill their potential this season. Of course, they’ve been dealing with injuries all year long. From pass-catchers like DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffrey to lineman like Lane Johnson, this team has been riddled with injuries and haven’t really had an opportunity to play with the lineup that was supposed to dominate the division in 2019. Nevertheless, there are much bigger issues going on with this team than simply injuries. Fans are becoming impatient with Carson Wentz, after former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles has left town in favor of the former No. 2 overall pick. Of course, the blame can’t solely be placed on Wentz, but he has not been the MVP candidate that he has been praised as in the past.

In terms of tonight’s matchup, I am going with the New York Giants to cover the large 8.5-point spread. Normally, a team would take a huge hit when resorting to their backup QB; however, the Giants are inserting a two-time Super Bowl champion and potential future Hall-of-Famer that is completely familiar with the offense, has had plenty of success against the Eagles and will be looking to finish his career strong. I think Manning is a pro for New York tonight. Plus, the Giants have some legit threats in their offense. Of course, Barkley is the main guy to pay attention to, but others like Golden Tate and Darius Slayton will be ready and available to help the old man work. And let’s be honest, they only need to be within a touchdown. The Eagles have not looked a touchdown better than any team this year. Most importantly, the Giants are 3-1 against the spread versus Philly over the last three seasons. In addition, they are 7-0 ATS in games played on a grass field over the last two seasons. Not to mention, New York has actually played well as a road dog this year. They are 3-2 ATS as a road underdog in 2019.
