The preseason tournaments are pretty much over, and it’s about time to get into conference play across college basketball. With that being said, we have a jam-packed schedule of inter-conference showdowns that will certainly keep us entertained on December 3rd. The Duke Blue Devils take on the Michigan State Spartans in an uncharacteristic matchup between teams outside the top 10. Have no fear, because there is still a top 5 matchup to sink your teeth into, as Michigan battles Louisville in a potential early-season Final Four showdown. We have the insights and information you need to cash in on tonight’s action as a part of our NCAAM best bets.
#10 Duke To COVER (+6.5) @ #11 Michigan State (-110)
When Duke fell to Stephen F. Austin a couple games ago, things seemed like they might be heading in the wrong direction in Durham; however, Coach K and company bounced back with a solid win against Winthrop. And truth be told, the Blue Devils still have more impressive wins than Michigan State on the year. They opened up the season with a big victory against Kansas and added wins against Cal and Georgetown along the way. On the flip side, Michigan State already has two losses, albeit against Kentucky and Virginia Tech. Tom Izzo’s club has bounced back with back-to-back wins against Georgia and UCLA.
In terms of betting value, Duke is 4-4 against the spread this season, while the Spartans are 2-5 ATS to this point. Duke has gone over in six of their eight games, but Michigan State has gone over just three times in seven matches. This will be Duke’s first true road game of the season, but 6.5 points is a lot for the Spartans to cover. This is a potential Final Four matchup early in the season, and I would expect it to remain close throughout.
