Welcome back to some baseball action, ladies and gentlemen. The top teams in the majors have been handling their business thus far through the MLB Postseason, as both top seeds in the American League could very well close out their respective division series today. On the other side, there is more of a fight going on in the National League, as the Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals were able to steal wins on the road. Atlanta and Los Angeles rebounded with road wins of their own, as the top seeds hold 2-1 leads in each of the NLDS matchups through three games.
The Astros and Yankees have looked dominant thus far in the playoffs, hitting home runs and shutting the opposing offense down. Houston is coming off a 3-1 win at home on Saturday, where Cy Young contender Gerrit Cole gave up zero runs in 7.2 innings and struck out 15, while AL MVP candidate Alex Bregman went yard. And the Yankees are rolling, after their 8-2 win against Minnesota that featured a Didi Gregorius grand slam. I expect that series to go the distance, but I’m not willing to put my money on it. As for the Washington-L.A. series, that is a game I’m willing to wager on. Max Scherzer at home in Washington, desperate to rebound from his sub-par start in the NL Wild Card game.
