#1 – Damian Lillard
“You’re spitting better than these rappers, man!” Sway said it himself after Lillard dropped an unreal 1-minute, 15-second freestyle on Sway in the Morning over the 2015 All-Star Weekend. Careful for NSFW language before and after Lillard’s freestyle which starts at the 2:40 mark.
The pioneer of Instagram’s #4BarFriday, Lillard has seen his basketball career grow from two-star recruit, to top-10 pick, to three-time All-Star, to All-NBA First Team honors. Still one of the most underrated and clutch performers in the league, the Portland Trail Blazers star is far from underrated on the mic and in the booth. Dame D.O.L.L.A. has proven to be one hell of a lyricist, perhaps best showcased in his 2016 track “Bigger Than Us,” which addressed the state of the nation following the events in Ferguson, Missouri.
Both of the Oakland-born baller’s albums have been well-received by critics, showing that Lillard’s rap ambitions aren’t just some gimmick side hustle, the dude is for real. Oh, and he laid waste to Shaq after getting dissed by him.
“Said yourself that I’m a Tesla, no longer need Diesel gas.
Kind of like the Cavs ain’t really need Diesel ass.
Even in Miami, won that on the strength of Flash.”
GOT DAMN. Game over.
