Max Scherzer, WAS vs. LAD, $9,700
Holding current Dodgers to a collective .179 lifetime average, these are the situations that Max Scherzer needs to deliver in. We’re banking on the 3-time Cy Young award winner to return big numbers for our October 7 MLB DFS lineup on Monday as the Nats have their backs against the wall. Scherzer had a rough month of September, posting a 5.16 ERA across five starts to end his regular season. He buckled down to deliver 5 innings of good-enough baseball in the NL Wild Card Game before picking up the hold in Game 2 of the NLDS by striking out the side in the 8th. The last time he faced the Dodgers at home in the NLDS, Scherzer fired 6 innings of 1-run ball and struck out 7 (2016 NLDS Game 5). He’s the highest-priced pitcher in the classic 2-game late slate but Scherzer is worth the high-priced risk.
Gary Sanchez, NYY @ MIN, $4,200
Potentially one of six Yankees to have homered off Jake Odorizzi who could be in the lineup tonight, roll with Gary Sanchez behind the dish in your October 7 MLB DFS lineup. Sanchez has reached base 7 times in 16 career plate appearances against the righty, including a double, a homer and 4 RBIs. Needing only 106 games to blast a new career-high 34 homers, 27 of them came off of right-handed pitching. Sanchez homered three times in 5 games against the Twins in 2019. Sanchez even has 3 home runs and 6 RBIs across his last four career ALDS road games. For a boom-or-bust play with a massive ceiling at the position, Gary Sanchez makes for a strong play at catcher.
