What did the Seahawks have in 2013 and 2014 that helped them reach the Super Bowl in two consecutive seasons? Simple: an elite defense with an incredible secondary. The Legion of Boom, led by all-world DBs Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas, helped make the Seahawks Super Bowl champs in 2013 and a play away from it in 2014. After ponying up for Jadeveon Clowney this season, a move for Ramsey doesn’t feel overly out of the question.
If there’s one thing Pete Carroll would love for his team to do, it’s get back to those ways of smothering the opposition defensively. Seattle got lit up through the air in Week 1 by Cincy of all teams, and happily got to face Mason Rudolph for half of Week 2. All told, Seattle has still surrendered the 7th-most passing yards of any NFL team through two weeks.
The Seahawks are always going to be a problem with Russell Wilson at QB and if that defense makes a return to the glory days of five or six years ago, they can again become one of the NFC’s elite teams. The addition of Jalen Ramsey would help them take a massive step toward getting there.
