After a heated Week 2 sideline spat with Doug Marrone, news broke on Monday, September 16th that the agent for Jalen Ramsey requested a trade that same day. With Ramsey having been one of the league’s elite man coverage corners since entering the league in 2016, the market for the in-his-prime DB will be strong. A two-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro selection, Jalen Ramsey only turns 25 in October. So, which NFL teams will be his suitors? The Philadelphia Eagles? Maybe the Oakland Raiders? God forbid, could it be the New England Patriots? With the Jags rumored to be searching for at least one first round pick in return, read on as we look into the top NFL teams that could trade for Jalen Ramsey.
New York Jets
After making a ton of offseason additions to bolster their defense, the New York Jets make for a sneaky suitor to land Jalen Ramsey in a trade. The Jets ranked 24 out of 32 teams a year ago in pass defense and Ramsey would immediately give them a boost to a secondary that already features the immensely talented Jamal Adams at safety (although Adams might be the next stud DB that forces his way out of town in the NFL).
Of all NFL defenders since 2016, Ramsey has allowed the fifth-lowest completion percentage to the nearest defender. He’s as elite as a lockdown man coverage DB as there’s been in the game for quite some time and will travel to shut down the opposing team’s best receiver. Ramsey could make a Darrelle Revis-like impact on the Jets in that secondary.
Will New York be willing to give up multiple high draft picks while in the middle of an intriguing rebuild/reload? That remains to be seen, but a secondary featuring Ramsey and Adams would make for some must-see TV.
