It was the week of the underdog in Week 4. First of all, my condolences to all of the favorites parlays out there and my sincerest congrats to the five of you that parlayed a few of those longshots. You’re probably riding pretty high ahead of this Monday Night Football matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers.
For what it’s worth, I expect this game to follow a script similar to those Sunday tilts.
Underdogs finished above .500 straight-up since the Thursday night opener, going 8-6 over that span. They fared even better against the spread, compiling an impressive 10-4 record. In the true spirit of the word, the under stayed king, cashing in eight of the 14 contests.
While I do like the underdog in tonight’s contest, I’m rolling with a higher total. I mean, it’s not going to be anything like that Buccaneers game, not that anything could replicate a shootout of that magnitude.
I’ve said it on The Bread Winners more times than I can count. Quite frankly, I’ve listened back and counted how many times I uttered the phrase, “Over Gold,” when discussing a matchup that features a solid offensive team with a less-than stellar defense. Tonight, the Bengals are that team, but it feels like the Steelers offense could also take a step forward against a feeble Cincinnati defense.
Let’s get into why.
