Some baseballs are about to be absolutely demolished tonight.

Despite Christian Yelich being scratched because of a back injury, the 2019 Home Run Derby field is loaded. The bracket still features two players ranked in the top five for home runs through the first half, Pete Alonso and Josh Bell, who hit 30 and 27 respectively. Vlad Guerrero Jr. is also making his first appearance, but he comes from a derby-winning lineage. In 2007, his father Vlad Guerrero Sr. won the derby at Angels Stadium. Young Vlad looked on as his dad hoisted the hardware, now the Blue Jays phenom will have a chance to win some of his own.

Actually, after this video came out, most would be surprised if he didn’t take home the title.

There are also some sneaky picks that have flown under the radar – Joc Pederson, Alex Bregman and Ronald Acuna Jr. have all hit for plenty of power this season but haven’t garnered the attention that some other contestants have. Their odds are solid, too, sitting at +600, +950 and +950 respectively. Acuna actually hit the third-most home runs among the field in the first half, but he’s up against the odds-on favorite Bell in the first round. If he can make it past the Pirates’ slugger, he presents some sneaky value at his current figure.

There are plenty of plays for tonight’s festivities. With all of the potential in this field, you might even be racking your brain, trying to figure out what to roll with. Well, fear not – we’re going to give you a Derby crash course and hopefully, that’ll help you make some of your decision a little easier.
