It’s crazy to think that it’s only been about a month since Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur in the UCL Final, and the 2019-20 campaign is already in full swing. The Reds were crowned champions of the UEFA Champions League for the sixth time in club history, and they enter this year’s tournament with the third-best odds to win another title. Qualification began on June 25th, which means it will only be a matter of time before we are discussing which teams could potentially be paired together in the Champions League draw. Without further ado, here are the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League title odds.
Manchester City (+430)
The Citizens won their second consecutive Premier League title in 2019 but did not reach expectations in the Champions League last season. They won their group easily but were eliminated by fellow English club Tottenham in the quarterfinals.
The team is still led by legendary manager Pep Guardiola, who is considered to be one of the greatest coaches in the history of the sport. In fact, he has coached three prestigious clubs (Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Man City) and holds the record for most consecutive league wins in La Liga, Bundesliga and Premier League history.
Man City is still led by Sergio Aguero, who has the sixth-most goals in Premier League history (164). In fact, he is the only non-European player to rank inside the top-ten in the category. Furthermore, his 0.69 goals per game average is best among the players in the top-ten.
With the record-setting pace that Man City has been on over the last couple seasons, it’s not surprising that they are the favorites heading into this campaign.
Lionel Messi and Barcelona has the second-best odds to win it all heading into the 2019-20 campaign. They will be extremely motivated this season, after surrendering the lead in the second leg of their aggregate semifinal series against Liverpool this past tournament. Blaugrana took a commanding 3-0 lead in the first leg but lost 4-0 in the second leg, preventing them from advancing to the UCL Final.
Messi will be extra motivated, after coming up short in Copa America with Argentina. Of course, he won’t have to do it alone, as Barca is currently working on a deal to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid. Griezmann has been one of the best players in Spain for a few years now and was the driving force behind France’s 2018 World Cup title run.
They might also bring back Neymar from PSG. There have been plenty of rumors circulating about Neymar’s desire to exit the French club. If he does, Barcelona will be one the most suitable places for him to transfer. If they are able to pair these stars with Messi, the odds might shift heavily in their favor.
